The goal of Sustainable Housing Development (SHD) initiative as contained in Goal 11 of The United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is “increased access to sufficient, safe and low-cost housing for the world's poorest people residing in slums by the year 2030”. This research further aims to develop a strategic housing for sustainable livelihood for low-income groups in Lagos Nigeria by reviewing existing case studies on housing for sustainable livelihood for low-income groups and suggest possible housing for sustainable livelihood for low-income groups in Lagos. The study was able to review and analyse the determinants of livelihood assets which includes human, social, natural, physical, and financial capital. A systematic review methodology was adopted to provide results and discussions from enormous authoritative publications in line with the study. The findings of the study instigated a three-stage approach for sustainable livelihood for low-income group which are technological, institutional and economic. It was further concluded that livelihoods approaches have the advantage of placing the poor at center stage, and of exploring aspects of their livelihoods which are commonly neglected. The research therefore recommends the deliberates efforts by actors and stakeholders to consider this livelihood assets (human, social, natural, physical, and financial capital) in the development of sustainable buildings for low-income groups.
