Abstract

The study examined the nexus between attitude towards behaviour and entrepreneurial intention among students of selected tertiary institutions in Kogi state. The study sought to ascertain if students attitude towards behaviour affect entrepreneurial intention. In pursuit of the objective, a survey research was carried out in six tertiary institutions in Kogi state purposefully selected. A sample size of 636 was determined from a population of 17,669 using raosoft sample size determination software. The main instruments used for data collection was the questionnaire. The questionnaire was structured in five point-likert scale in line with the objective of the study. The analysis revealed that the predictor variable accounted for approximately 17% variance in Entrepreneurial Intention (R2 = .17, F (1, 507) = 8.663, p < .003). It also reveals that attitude towards behaviour contributed positively and significantly to the regression model. This implies that a positive relationship exists between students’ attitude towards behaviour and entrepreneurial intention. The study recommends, among others that, there is need to increase students’ attitude towards entrepreneurship. To achieve this, programmes where students can equip themselves on the positive gains of self-employment should be organized so as to increase their interest towards self-employment.
