Abstract

One of the major challenges of public service in Nigeria is the inability to deliver service to the people effectively and efficiently. Public service delivery in Nigeria has been characterized by poor, inefficient, and ineffective results, inconsistent with citizens’ preferences and below global standard. It is often a subject of ridicule because of its rigidity, characterized by red-tapism. These problems are mostly due to lack of accountability, transparency, high cost of administration, wastage and lack of commitment in making services work for the citizenry. Sequel to the above, the challenge of service delivery affects all citizens who demand quality services from public service. The search for efficiency and increase in productivity in the public sector has led to the acceptance and adoption of ICT as a means of enhancing service delivery in the public service and this has impacted positively on service delivery in the public service. The advent of ICT has brought improvement in communication in the public sector. As an aspect of e-governance, the federal and state government have keyed into ICT as a way of enhancing service delivery in the public sector. The study seeks to find out the relevance of ICT in enhancing service delivery in Federal university Wukari. It promotes cordial relationship between the administrators and the rest members of the institution, with the aim of enhancing performance in the public service, particularly in Federal University Wukari. The study adopts Romer endogenous growth theory, given its emphasis and assumptions on technology as the engine the drives growth and development. The study relied on content analysis for source of data. The benefits of ICT in the institution were identified as well as the problems and recommendations were made
