INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES AND ACADEMIC SERVICE DELIVERY IN UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

This study looked into the availability of infrastructural facilities in university of Ibadan for discharging its academic responsibilities of teaching, research and community services among the academic staff. Thus, data were collected with the use of questionnaire, interview and observation with available infrastructural checklist. A random sample of 189 academic staff was selected across five faculties namely; Art, Education, Engineering, Science, and Social Sciences. In order to test for hypothesis, the inferential statistic tool of chi – square at 5% level of significance was used. The study found out that infrastructural facilities in university of Ibadan have significant effects on students’ academic performance, learning and teaching outcomes as well as other services rendered by the university. Therefore, the study recommended that government should increase the level of infrastructural of university of Ibadan. if infrastructure of the university is improved upon there is likelihood to improve on students’ and lecturer’s academic performance for them to compete with the global universities of webometric measures. Also, the university management should ensure maintenance practice of the available university facilities.
